The Final Sonorous III could be a dark horse. Only review out so far is on a site called 6 Moons. Not one I'm familiar with but first impressions are that it's first and foremost an electronic advertising billboard. www.6moons.com/audioreviews2/final2/1.htmlThe reviewer is the site owner and Final appear to be a sponsor. Throw in some very lofty claims in the review and I can't help but start to reach for my shovel and bag of salt. Only thing stopping me from dismissing it as a fluff piece is my experience with some of Final's other products and many of the positives mentioned echo my thoughts on the Pandora. Keeping my expectations in check but can't say my curiosity hasn't been piqued

6moons Sarajan has never been my favourite reviewer, however, they do showcase products that the mainstream press often neglects. And possibly because he tends to like everything he reviews (not useful to us as consumers) a lot of manufacturers give the site exclusive previews and peeks behind their curtains (sorta useful to us).
most European and Asian small manufacturers would not be where they are today without the site.
and no, his writing style never improved lol.

As an aside, I may have inadvertently killed a pair of sonorous 3 by accident at a local Hi Fi show =.=
I was at the beyerdynamic stall auditioning the DT1770, which I really enjoyed, followed by the 600 ohm T1v2 (which I didn't) I was using the mojo I was carrying at the time.
The Final stall was right next to it and I tried the sonorous 3 without resetting the mojo and remembering it was an 8 ohm device... needless to say, it took my head off, I apologised to the sales person and made a hasty retreat. I ended up with tinnitus for the rest of the day so I can't give an account of how the sonorous actually sounded lol.
they were comfy and light tho compared to the DT1770s and despite being plastic, like the dt1770 its plastic feels reassuringly expensive.

Just as well it wasn't your own pair. Could have been a costly mistake! When you own a Pandora you quickly learn to become very careful with volume levels so I always turned the Mojo right down before switching off. I'd have much preferred that it reset itself when powered off or that Chord had at least given the user the option to set things to their preference. That said when I plugged in the K712 it took quite some time to cycle through the volume to get to a comfortable level....which took away some of the spontaneity. Very cool little box of tricks though

The VI (IV may be a bit lighter as it has plastic cups) is 480g. I think the Sonorous 3 is 420g. Still not exactly light but the headband Final use is quite broad and does a very good job of distributing the weight, so you don't tend to feel it as much as you might expect.
I suspect the DT1770 might actually be lighter than the S3 even if it doesn't feel it.

correction. final's clamp was lighter (as I was able to get it off my head rather quick ;p dt 1770's clamp (at least the demo unit) was similar to a new hd650.
iirc, the mojo was in the dual "light blue" situation >.<
(just checked the weight of the dt1770 on the beyerdynamic site, it's 388 minus cable)

That is unusual. Wonder if they're finding it hard to shift stock?

Death row, what a brother knows? (name that tune!)
I'm going to stick in a speculative bid of £50 and go from there. Think you get 2 or 3 bites of the cherry before they run out of patience and you need to pay the B.I.N. price (if all rejected).

Crikey. If you get £50 through .... Buy 3!!!! I'd definitely have one. The one I heard was super. The build thing worried me a bit, but that all seems to have died down. I wonder if they'd be interested in a group buy. Mini Massdrop style?
