They'll probably be fine on DT880/990/1990.

Another thing, and this goes for all the beyerdynamic models. Check that the cups and pads can align perfect with the side of your head. Look at yourself in a mirror. Grab the cup and tilt it around a bit to see that the cup is not in an extreme position in the "yoke", while resting against your head. The lower side of the cup will pobably not be able to rest properly under the ear and the "yoke" or "fork" that holds the cup will need some adjusting. Push the so called "yoke" all the way up in the headband. Push on the outside of the yoke and bend it inwards. Do this with both sides and hold the cups up to check that you have bended each yoke equally much. If one cup is lower than the other, bend that yoke some more to align the cups with each other. I hope this makes sense... In any case, when the cups can align properly with the side of the head, the pads will seal better and will last longer.

I have just built a Kameleon 2. I have filters for the HD600 and AEON RT. But I also own a Bayerdynamic DT770 Pro, and I both like them and dislike them. They are very sturdy an comfortable, but also sounds a bit dull. You who own these headphones and use them with a filter module, what do you think of the result? Is it still a dull headphone, just a little less dull than before, i e still mediocre, or do you think it transformed into something stellar? I am asking because I am considering if it is wort putting together a filter for it.

The problem with the DT770 is that there is no DT770 There are several ones and most differ quite a few dB between them. On top of that when one needs more than one peak/notch filter or have this at a frequency below 1kHz this cannot be done with the Kameleon. There are some shelve filters and one band filter. So the DT770 would have to be measured or the exact same model would have to be measured and then a module can be constructed that addresses the major flaws.

It is rather new, just a couple of years old.

I started work on my filter board and almost straight away one of the SMD resistors jumped of the board on a suicide mission and it took me 3/4 of an hour to find it. Have a rest I thought and try again the next day. Everything going to plan that day until one of the really small 0805 4K7ohm resistor R5L did the same and for the life of me I cannot find it. For this reason I buy at least one or two parts extra of everything SMD I need. I don´t even try to find these small parts if they jump away down on the floor. However, some semiconductor components are increasingly hard to find. Not resistors and such, but those inductors are hard to find, as is the case with some op-amps and capacitors. But this aside. Are you happy with your headphone after you finished the filter?

But this aside. Are you happy with your headphone after you finished the filter? I do use my Kameleon with DT770 filter 80ohm version quite a lot when my wife is watching soaps on TV and I don't want to watch that crap so I suppose that answers your question, yes I am happy with my headphones + kameleon combination.
I thought the DT770 was a brilliant headphone before the filter but what do I know?
The first thing noticed when I listened for the first time was the flabby bloated bass had gone and it was far more controlled and not bleeding into the mids, more tight and punchy with more sub bass, and the treble peak had gone giving a very nice sound to my cloth ears.
The DT770 is the only decent headphone I own really, so I cannot compare it to other good headphones like the Sennheisers.
I only own closed back headphones and only once owned a pair of open backed headphones which defeated the object of listening when people around you can hear your music and you can hear everything going on from outside:-X

i would echo your views on filtered DT770. i still use mine (250 ohm) when i need to be quiet, but tend to stick with speakers these days mostly.

Thank you for answering my question. What you describe seems to be a significant improvement. This means I will build a filter for myself. It seems to be worth it. I will also mention and thank you for your earlier postings in the Kameleon thread. It was helpful to follow your building process, and especially some of the photos.

You and Crispy have convinced me building my own DT770 filter-module would be a good idea. Whenever it is possible. The needed inductors seems to be a victim of the worldwide semiconductor shortage.

They have Production Packs to send now in November, but then I have to order 250 inductors. That is enough for 125 filter modules. I don´t think I will ever need 125 filter-modules

A fully made DT770 filter module for the 250ohms version - are your hedphones 250ohms ?
If they are PM me and you can have it for Free.
It has had very little use as I built it when there wasn't a filter for the 80ohm version and it did the trick until the correct filter came along thanks to Frans

Those looking for the 100mH inductors I can supply them.
Conrad.de has plenty of these in stock as well.
