the marantz pm7003 arrived today to replace my little denon. using it in power amp direct mode from the Embers line out.
not as warm sounding as the denon more natural though to my ears.

"My Sennator isn't working correctly, but after hearing it, I have found the hd650 lacking if I'm honest, which is why I've moved to other headphones until a filter is ready for the Polaris, when I may well return to the fold." i thought you already had a filter for the 650 , Ian?

The S16 is an amazing dac. I had it on test for a few weeks. Also heard it on my friends reference system (a review from him is bound to come out in PartTimeAudiophile soon i hope) parttimeaudiophile.com/whats-next/My opinion is that it might be the benchmark of the sub 1000usd class. Unfortunately the company doesn't seem to fair well with reviewers, and is looked down upon from the headfi crowds. Design wise and component wise is up there with the best. The haedphone amp is quite powerful but not on par with the dac. Sounds best balanced. you are probably right, as i stated i think i was getting confused with a gustard unit.

He goes a bit quick doesn't he? It looks as though you unpack and have to physically move it into the 'plug ins' folder. Then it needs to be installed within Foobar which should see it...... Get a Kameleon!!! Techboy, you still think it's self-explanatory? Go on then ..... i thought the Kameleon was a portable amp?

I know the feeling!! The Aune does sound quite 'silky' and puts a nice sheen onto the sound. I quite like it really. There was another one I liked an awful lot. I think it was an s2 Panda. I liked the Panda but it had an inherent noise issue but the S2 was sorted and sounded really great. It had two analogue inputs and was quite powerful. i still have my panda but i am about to give it to my brother along with my meier stagedac . all together they cost me £700 , so he is getting a good deal . i wish my first gear was that good.

The new Teac UD-503, though not of the same high end pedigree, also looks nice and has some interesting features to match very decent specs. Twin mono new AK4490 DACs capable of native DSD256... Sent from my GT-I9100 using proboards had a read on the headfi thread for the teac last night. one guy on there said the build quality was awful compared to the previous offering. Javier , when you say its "not of the same high end pedigree", i assume you are comparing to the chord offerings and not the micro?
