Interesting findings. The only reason I even noticed the change in my old LCD 2.2 is I went to a meet and heard someone else's. The treble was much better. Mine were only six months old so I don't think it was pad compression. Audeze was having some QC issues with the driver membranes "loosening'" and causing some lack of clarity in the treble. I almost sent them back and then found out they were replacing the drivers with the new fazors. I waited until I had a chance to hear a fazor pair. Didn't find the sound to my liking. A little "steely" sounding. Lost the "yummy" sound as Tyll Hertsens has called it. So decided to keep them. If you make a filter for them at some point I'll give it a try. I'd be willing to send them to you Frans, but I know the shipping cost wouldn't be cheap.
I still use them with hot recordings where the HD800's would pierce your eardrums. The bass and mids are still very nice on the LCD's.

Just wait till I measure a pair here. I know there are variances in the amount of treble but the upper mids/lower treble dip is about the same with all of them. My HD800 doesn't pierce eardrums any more. I can throw any recording at it. Almost has LCD-2 bass as well. May make a 2nd HD800 filter option as well giving it even more 'body'. Was funny to read some guy's reddit comment: This 'expert', who obviously never heard a Kameleon, told people the following add subbass for hd 800
real meaning
add lot of mudLooks more like throwing mud

had my lcd2 r2 a little while now possibly 2 years i would guess. have not noticed any loss of sound quality, but if it is a gradual decline then i probably would not.
just preferring the filtered 650 now.

It wasn't a big loss. I'm being picky here. I only heard it when I had the other pair right at hand. My understanding was it didn't happen with every pair. I know of an outstanding pair that as far as I know still sound great. Luck of the draw. I'm only aware of it when I deliberately listen for it, or on certain recordings. Right now I have been spending time with a friend's pair of HD600's. A nice sounding can good with a lot of different gear and recordings.

I bought one of Frans prototypes, with filters for the HE400i and D2000. I am now waiting for a pair of HD650 to arrive from the UK. After reading so much in this forum about how good they sound through the Kameleon, I am very eager to try them :-)

Have you noticed that the rig with the Kameleon becomes a bit more convoluted with cables? Here in Sweden it is hard to find short-good-quality-not-expensive cables. Ended up ordering two pairs of 30 cm RCA from GhentAudio, they are rather inexpensive and they look very well made.

I also got a prototype in a trade with Frans. Use it with the HE-560 and they sound splendid.
tunke, think you're going to enjoy the HD650 a lot. It's a great headphone as is but the Kameleon module really is the icing on the cake. Have fun!

My cabling is nice and neat too. Can't say that about my desk right now as there's that much paperwork on it the Kameleon and Polaris have been snowed under. Might need to send the search party out

just curious to know (cos i am a nosey sod) who ,on here, has invested in a Kameleon? I have one of the first prototype Kameleons that Frans was generous to send me with the HD 650 filter (older drivers). Still one of my favorite amps. Really takes the 650 to a new level. Bass is really excellent. Have been listening to a friends HD600 on a first generation Eddie Current Black Widow. Very neutral sound. Even frequency response. But still needs a bass improvement. Just my opinion, but the filter really makes the 650 first class. The amp I have is not designed for high volumes. Frans designed it that way for my preference. As always this is my personal opinion.

Just received my new (second-hand) HD650 :-) Unfiltered so far, but I quite like what I hear. The mid-range is wonderful. I can only imagine how the lift of the sub-bass (fro the filter module) will make these perform.
