Yes, the midrange is wonderful on the HD650 and tonally really natural (to my ears).
The module adds a nice amount of sub-bass. It's tastefully done but the difference is very evident when you switch back and forth.

Just received my new (second-hand) HD650 :-) Unfiltered so far, but I quite like what I hear. The mid-range is wonderful. I can only imagine how the lift of the sub-bass (fro the filter module) will make these perform. have you ordered a filter module for them yet?

At the moment I am on vacation in Spain :-)
I am planing to source a dac too, my Nano died just before Christmas but I didn't dare to order anything online given the proximity of this trip. My curiosity and expectation about the filtered HD650 remain though!

Given my (very) positive experience with the filter module for the HE400i I am quite convinced the effect will be remarkable :-)

Added a module for the AKG Q701 (on request) I assume you've removed the dentist drill spike at 2k?

yep, and some of the HD650-esq warmth, added some subbass and added some upper treble extension.
The K701 and Q701 are basically the same. The Q701 just has 2.5dB more lift between 30Hz amd 1kHz.

Just managed to finally get some time to solder the last two missing SMD resistors to my HD650 filter module. I am listening to it at the moment and the effect is quite nice :-) But I need to listen a bit more before I can make up my mind about all the changes that I can perceive from the filter.

So... I finally got a full week of continuous listening to the Kameleonized HD650. I also brought my Polaris to the office just out of curiosity. I have to say that I have enjoyed this particular headphone better with the Polaris than with my Ember, unlike my HD400i that seems to shine better with Ember. Anyhow, I think I have a new favorite pair of cans. The reason why I am liking very much the HD650 is not that I "hear new stuff" but rather that they produce a very very pleasant sound signature without strident peaks or glare, but retaining all the detail that I could ever hear in those tracks. The module fills the sub-bass nicely and I think I hear some extra extension in the upper end, but it is rather subtle (I hope it is not placebo effect!). With Eric Clapton's Unplugged, the effect is remarkable! Although they are tonally correct, I am having a bit more "fun" in the bass department with the filtered HD650 than with my filtered HE400i. I also suspect that my D2000 will collect dust for a while :-) Thanks Frans and oldson for your help with the filter module and heads-up on the HD650 deal (respectively!), totally worth it!

I'm 99.9% sure the answer is 'yes' but wondered if I could get a confirmation on something. I currently have a proto Kameleon in-line filter which came with a short power cord for connecting to G1217 amps. So when using the Polaris I have things set up as: Polaris PSU (Mean Well) -> Kamleon -> short power cord + stereo RCA leads ->Polaris. Polaris + PSU. PSU shared between the two. I now fancy trying the Kameleon with a non-G1217 amp. Would I be correct in assuming that the only change* needed is to remove the short power cord from the equation as the amp will have its own power source? So Polaris PSU -> Kameleon -> stereo RCA -> amp (using its own power source) (* and yes I will of course swap the RCA leads over too! ) Cheers!

I am 99.9999999% sure you are right :-) I think that is why the G1217 Kameleon can be bought with PS or bypass cable.
