The T50 needs a lot of power to drive it in spite of being only 50 ohms. If you lower the amp power, it might not be enough.
I sometimes switch my O2 to high power for both the T40 and T50.

In the T50 the mentioned TLE will provide 0.35W which isn't too shabby. The original opamps can provide about 0.5W which is 1.5dB louder (so not that much)
The 'upgrade' package has better specs than the ones in the original design which was all about low cost.
I don't think the numbers will differ that much and even if it is higher it will be far below the audible treshold / capabilities of the T50RP. The T50RP has relatively high distortion figures of around 0.5% to 1% but mainly 2nd harmonic (like tubes but a bit more severe) and thus not that annoying or audible as 'distortion'.
Once modded this drops to around 0.2% - 0.5%

Frans,
Is your portable filtered amp going to be a basic amp with a builted in filter or will it be THE solderdude's pimped newly designed reference amp that will happen to fit in a little box? I do NOT question you're capabilities, I just want to know you're intensions...

A basic, but correctly designed, amp with similar 'sonic qualities' as O2 with the exception that this one will be smaller, will have no volpot and 1 or 2 batteries and a minimum voltage protection circuit. It can be charged with a DC walwart and is not intended to double as a desktop amp (like the O2 can)
Pricepoint is not known yet but won't be as cheap as a Zigis, expected to be between E 100 and E 150 depending on how much luxury and quality components are tucked in there. Enclosure is going to be the most expensive part.
The design will have virtual ground, the O2 has real ground.
The filters can be fitted or it can be used as a portable amp which has more power than standard C'Moy and slightly less than standard O2.
On the other hand the headphones it will be 'custom filtered' to will sound much better. Will accomodate for a lot of headphones.

Will it be the solution to rabbit's problem (and mine) in finding an portable amp which is a perfect match with rather difficult to drive ortho's? Given the Tn0Rp's are rather popular and closed HP's (decent isolation) your efforts wont be wasted.

I reckon it will be!! An inbuilt filter for something like the T40 or T50 which will instantly make the headphone flatter in response and sufficient power to drive it too. Bit of a killer if you have loads of headphones though, since once configured, the T40 filter doesn't suit much else. I've tried mine with other headphones and it NEEDS to be off for most.

I like the O2 a lot. It's powerful and doesn't put out any noise at all. Worst part is battery life. I use it and charge straight away!!

Battery life depends mostly on the idle current of the used opamps.
You can increase battery life but at the cost of output power by choosing other opamps

Wasn't there supposed to be a desktop version? Surely that can't be hard to build. I do think Mayflower Electronics makes a desktop version thats O2 and ODAC Im too lazy to do by myself, the xmas turkey hasn't been full digested yet

The O2 as delivered looks like a desktop amp although quite small. It's not what I'd call a true portable. More like 'mobile'.
The front panel is about 5 inches by 1. Has a slightly 'cool' sound but does work extremely well.
The one sent to me from USA has some things I think could be improved. The quality of the sockets isn't brilliant, but so far, they haven't failed. Also, no led' s to indicate charging and it doesn't switch charging off automatically.
Sound and power is really good though. Well worth the cost. For me, the Ember and O2 get the most use. I found that a Tom Tom Sat nav case fits it perfectly so it's protected as well.
As far as battery life goes Frans, I'd be happy with a bigger case for a bigger battery, I think. It's not really what I'd call a 'portable' amp in reality. Movable is more like it!!

splashurl.com/pr85glmBeen talking about him and here he is being talked about elsewhere!!! I still like the O2 a great deal and use it almost exclusively as a portable amp.
