The Kameleon, Ember and Polaris (as well as the Solstice) all have exactly the same output stage. The Ember and Polaris have much more power though. There will be an inline filter for G1217 amps with input switches, a bypassable 'filter module' and possibly a power switch on the front that also switches the amplifier on and off. You can Kameleonise all G1217 amps with it. Will take at least 6 months before that becomes available though. The Kameleon is really only intended for portable use though. The desktop version is a one-off I made because I ordered the wrong enclosure and thought I'd make myself a desktop version of it. The yet to be created G1217 inline thingy that accepts the filter module will be for desktop use. The needed filter circuits are too diverse to create with potmeters or jumpers. i thought that would be the case, Frans. (re your last comment) this G1217 thingy has got me interested though, mate. how does this differ to the standard filter like the one Javier built for me?

Imagine a bank of filters inside an amp, that you just dial in the headphone you're using ......
That's getting sci fi!!!
'Computer, switch on amp and DT990 filter please' 'Play'

I've put them in a password protected folder. I might be able to send you a link though. i too have a "fancy pants" camera! maybe you could send your mate around to show me how to use it !!!! i have had it a few years now but i am crap at photography. Modern cameras can be incredibly complex but photography itself hasn't changed for 100 years and never will. Taking pictures is as close as I ever get to being artistic.

yes sir, that is it! Plug and play. Top cover will not fit though unless you pick up one of the upcoming CNC'ed chassis or have a custom one made in acrylic

The filter circuit as you have can be used to create more complex and accurate filters but the notch filter section(s) needed are noisier. That's why the filter is used before the volume control. The Kamelon filter is simpler and can make less complicated filters and thus there will be a shorter list of headphones that can be filtered accarately. The better headphones around will be on the list though as they usually do not need complex corrections. For the LCD-2 the differences will be so small if any at all. Your filtered LCD-2 will sound very much the same as a compensated HD650, technically the LCD-2 MAY be even marginally better on technicalities.

Oldson, I think your idea has merit with the custom knob. I did not like the stock one so bought a couple till I found one that was sufficient. Now a custom know, with logo, would be a nice touch, maybe about 30-34 mm? I know if you buy a "crack" amp to get the doc logo you have to pay another $5 for a decal, and who doesn't like a little custom look? We are proud of the product and glad to show it off. Don

To get a 34mm knob on, the feet might have to be changed to something taller. I have a gold plated knob on mine which is 28 or 30 mm and it just goes. I put it on because it feels heavier and gives the impression of real smoothness and since it's larger, you have finer control over the volume.

If the aluminium top-plates become the norm there's definitely a market for a black / polished knob. It could look beautiful.

In that case Solrighal must send the Ember to you instead of me.
For those wondering why I send an Ember to a member with just 2 posts in good faith they should know that I have had previous dealings with Jakkel.
@ Jakkal: you can PM Solrighal to let him know where to send the Ember. Solrighal will wait with shipping till he had enough time to evaluate the Ember with a Polaris that is currently on route to him.http://diyah.boards.net/post/new/143
