The seller was 'Solitaire', the two remaining are two different sellers, one is £1,050 the other £1548.29 at the moment. 1st one is UK, as mine is, the other is Germany. Weird.
I looked up Solitaire's details and the company is an aerial distributor, yet his 'other items' include printer toners, a designer sugar bowl and all sorts of other things.
Each item has 'currently unavailable' under it. Weirder still.

That does look very weird!! I couldn't find the seller's account via a google search, just links to a gazillion solitaire games on Amazon. Did manage to find his storefront though and as you say it seems a bit like the marie celeste in terms of stock availability!! It might not be the case but it does look like the sort of account that gets compromised. Lot of misc. 'bric a brac' and then all of a sudden more niche high value items are added and it starts to resemble Aladdin's cave!! In this case there doesn't seem to be much else of interest for sale so may be completely legit or perhaps Amazon have cottoned onto things and have closed the listing. But at least you are covered by their A-Z Guarantee if the headphones don't materialise or aren't as described. A-Z Guarantee infoOut of interest in the order e-mail you received do you see a note of the seller's comments that normally appear under 'Condition' in the product listing?

The truth is that I came on here. Wrote the post.
Went and got my card and went back.
Someone had bought one and the price had gone up.....
Literally in minutes!!!
At that price, if you didn't want it Mark, I'd have got double my money back selling it.
Question is..... have they allowed Syd to buy it at that price? I hope it's not some kind of scam.

Cheers Ian - it was very decent of you to try. And at that price I'd have bitten your hand off!
I think as things stand Syd has put in an order but the seller could still cancel prior to despatch. Don't think Amazon release any funds to the seller until that happens.
If it's a scam it's different from the usual one. Normally the seller wants the buyer to e-mail them prior to purchase in an attempt to entice them to send the money outwith Amazon's payment system (and as a result the A-Z guarantee doesn't offer any protection). Presumably this way they don't feel the wrath of Amazon and by the time the buyer's CC company is alerted the seller is long gone...along with the cash. And the poor sod who owns the account has to pick up the pieces and field angry phones calls etc. from disgruntled buyers.
The reason I asked about the 'condition' comments is that I wondered if there was something about contacting the seller that Syd had missed in his haste to bag a bargain. Which in this case would be a very good thing because I'm assuming he completed purchase through Amazon!!

I hope so. If they are a dodgy company, it might pay Syd to stop the card entirely and get a new one.
Hopefully, the headphone will arrive soon.
Somehow, Amazon need to keep tabs on dodgy dealers.

Due to the speed he placed the order I'm suspecting Syd paid through Amazon. In which case the seller will never see his CC details so no need to cancel the card. Worst case scenario is that Amazon take the money and they then have to refund him if the headphones are a no show.
Amazon marketplace is rife with scammers. Every other high value headphone or DAP I look at has at least one dodgy listing. Amazon shuts them down and they just pop right back up again using a new account. I honestly think that it's getting to the point where they need to close it down until they can improve security of accounts and some kind of 'reasonableness' checks on seller behaviour (e.g. someone selling greetings cards for 5 years suddenly lists a ton of Utopias, 65" 4k TVs etc.) because I can't imagine many sellers or buyers having much faith in it much longer.

The Amazon order confirmation looks completely legit and nothing more has arrived this morning...so far. I then went online and checked my 'orders' on Amazon web site and sure enough under Condition it says "Condition: New - Be`fore Ordering contact us: info-xxxxxxxxx *@*xxxxxxxxxx.co.ukThanks" - Thats a paste from the Amazon site, I've substituted x's as there is no point in complicating things more for now. I doubt if I'll receive my bargain! There's no problem with the card Ian, I worked through Amazon and wouldn't have sent a direct payment. I'm sorry guys if I jumped in ahead of anyone, I genuinely thought that there were three pairs available at that price which is why I came straight back to the thread at the time I placed the order.
It's the only 'phone I have on my 'wish list' since Mick bought his. He had recommended the HE6 to me and I bought those, loved them ever since and he then bought the Fostex as well, so I was fairly sure I would like them, the Youtube movie about the wooden cups was the main reason though, a nice ornament when not in use<G>
I didn't realise that parts of the forum couldn't be seen other than to members, good to know.

You'll not see them I'm afraid Syd. The good thing is that by using Amazon checkout the scam has failed. Because all the seller's listings have been closed I imagine Amazon are aware of the situation and hopefully they will cancel affected orders shortly and reverse any payment. But if you don't hear anything today it might be worth contacting their customer service team and I'm sure they'll see you right....bet they have plenty of experience handling this kind of thing!! Win some, lose some I suppose

Another pair up. £656....no message about contacting them but take a look at their storefront!! Thousands (possibly tens of thousands) of high value items and yet not a single piece of feedback left for them since Sept...hmm. Are you feeling lucky??

My God that is worrying. I'm sorry to have giving you a bum steer Syd. I genuinely thought that they might be getting rid of them before the mark II goes out at this site.
It will be interesting to see what you get back from Amazon today though because once they realise it's a scam ( if it is ) then they will have to contact you and cancel the order.
I was reading about scams on head fi where similar kinds of things have been happening but the company have tried to get the details of the card via you contacting them Syd. I guess that's when they asked for you to buy it away from Amazon and they get your details. I was more concerned about that.
It will be fantastic though if you do actually get the headphone.
Just to confirm that this area is actually off-limits to people who are not members. Also the for sale bit. Stops shysters coming in and making bad deals.

No worries at all Ian, Amazon charges my CC so that's additional comfort. Even if it were to go totally wrong, it's not your fault and look at the excitement it's been Just checked and CC has been charged 'pending' so they can share the hit with Amazon. I like the off-limits safeguard. Syd

This appears to be someone different, my seller had two Bicester addresses. Don't think I would chance it Syd Me neither. As tempting as a £600 TH900 might be. The Bicester address probably belongs to the real owner of the account. The scammers don't seem to bother changing any of the contact details as all they need is the payment electronically sent to the bank account that they provide via e-mail. Then of course the poor soul whose account was compromised has to deal with the fallout and field the calls from angry customers!! And their trading rep is toast. Shame to have missed out on a pair but at least you are covered by your money is safe!!

I have only had only one problem with Amazon sellers. A pair of shoes that after one day at work caused my feet to break out in a skin reaction that I had to see my doctor that day. Amazon made right by me. The seller was banned, and they sent me a free pair of shoes from their stock with a refund. Hope this works out. Best advice, buy through Amazon.
