Anyone tried the K-meter VST plug-in with Foobar? Developed by Bob Katz for sound engineering but has a use to help your keep the volume on you headphones and speakers in the safe range. Requires an investment in a dB meter that can do C weighting slow response.

I haven't, I used some EQ'ing VST plugins some time ago a<nd the VST plugin in Foobar works most of the time but unfortunately is not too good and development stopped quite a while back.

The K-meter works pretty well. Since it isn't designed with Foobar in mind, but more for studio mixing and mastering, some of the functions cause Foobar to crash. But none of those are needed if you are using it to keep your headphone volume down. I'll send you links if you are interested. What VST wrapper are you using? I'm using George Yohng's ver 1.2.

I love Foobar. Was wondering what I am doing wrong when I rip a CD and the file comes out with the tracks out of order? Sorry if this has been covered already, but I couldn't find any information about it.

What are you using for ripping? Foobar? I'd recommend Exact Audio Copy 1.3 (EAC for short), it is one of the best available and it is 100% free. If you decide to give it a go I can email you a step-by-step guide on how to set it up for most accurate rips.

That might be useful anyway Javier. We could 'sticky' something like that.

Yes Javier I am using Fooobar to rip. I think I tried EAC many moons ago. I'll give it a try this week once I recover from the SBAF meet I went to in L.A. Thanks.

Forgot to mention that it is much better to use the FLAC enconder included in Foobar's Encoder Pack (http://www.foobar2000.org/encoderpack) than the one included in EAC. If used it is necessary to point EAC to its location.

Thanks for the information. Pretty much all the folks I know over here recommend EAC too. I will probably install and try a rip tonight. I'll check back after.

I don't think there is a better ripper for Windows than EAC or XLD for Mac and they are both free.
