Oldson, how do the LCD-2 compare to your new babies? The weight of all Audeze phones has put me off everytime I found a good 2nd hand deal

D600 has better isolation and is nice for portable use with a shorter lead. I still use mine so don't do anything rash!!!
Your D2000 was a really good buy.

Turned out to be a very good price then!
Was a good deal if they were used vgc but to find a new pair these days is almost unheard of. Did wonder how they had two pairs for sale but guess they must have uncovered some old stock somewhere.
Enjoy!

yeah delighted with these. i have been really lucky over the years with used headphones on ebay. dont think i would lose a penny on these if i decided to sell.
as far as a comparison to the LCD2 , these are certainly a lot closer in sq than the d600 is. they do not seem over powered by bass, maybe because they dont seal as well. obviously comfort wise they are more comfortable than the audeze. it is not the weight that bothers me with the audeze, but the clamping force. having said that , it is only an issue when i have a bad head, otherwise i can wear the lcd's all evening. will do some more listening and comparing over the coming days/weeks. i do still plan on getting a dt770 and 1770, just out of curiosity really.

I'm glad you like it, Simon. They're a lovely headphone and it looks like you've got yourself a new one. I use mine a lot; especially with portable amps since they are very low impedance.
I find them a bit low for an Ember since they'll pick up noise quite easily.
On first listen, I loved the bass sound straight away. I use them instead of my TH900 if the recording is a bit sharp. The Denon is close but a little softer in the treble.

funnily enough, i used to use an impedance adapter with my d7000 from my Ember, for that reason. no need with these , so far i hear no nasties

If you have a quiet tube on, it may be ok.

My last one went really microphonic. I just had to loghtly touch the Ember and it pinged like a pong.
Cheap old Jan Philips now - quiet as a mouse.

They're in another league, Simon. Although the d600 is expensive, I only got one when the price went to under half.
I still like it though with Ipods etc, without an amp. In fact, I've been listening on it today!!

i think i paid £160 for my d600, and like the d2000, its in perfect condition.
gonna try the d2000 with a movie tomorrow to see how they compare to the d600, but cannot see that changing my view, tbh.
when you say "They're in another league", i assume you rate the d2000 higher? best to clarify

Same as me. They still go around £300 I think so you did well with the Denon and would probably get your money back.
Movie explosions are huge on a d600 but the d2000 is a better headphone. Virtually both were same price I think when the d2000 was being sold.

i have been searching for replacement cables just to shorten the stock cable. i have seen people have modded the cups to create an open back d2000! i had to laugh, just buy an open back headphone.

I would imagine making the d2000 open would change the bass quite a bit. The cable is too stiff and long. It does get in the way. Actually, I'd like a short stub with a connection like the Superlux. That way, you can chnge length of cable with ease.
The Superlux system works really well for both the changing of cable lengths as well as protection when/if the cable is trapped and you move.
