I am not Ian but I have listened to them filtered :-) The effect of the filter is mild compared to that in the HE400i. It brings a part of the mids a bit more forward. The effect is more apparent in some songs than in others. These headphones always had a bit too much bite in the upper mids and/or treeble, I think there must be a peak somewhere in the FR curve. With the filter I don't notice this. Bass is great as usual :-)
Looking forward to reading your own experience!

i will have to dig mine out and get used to their signature again.
been listening to speakers most lately, so buying the Kameleon and 3 filters is a bit of an "over indulgence" really. having said that, the concept of a device like this with swappable filters is fantastic. i mostly listen to pc based files so you may say "why not just use sonarworks?". i like the fact that with hardware filters , i can use any source i wish. (especially when my pc inevitably goes pear shaped).

Sorry Simon. Didn't see this. No, I haven't a d2000 filter. I like the d2000 a lot. Fruity bass and crystal top. If anything, maybe the mids are back a bit. Bass is quite loose but I like it.
I use it for treble relief from the th900. Closeish in sound with less treble bite so if I have an aggressive recording, I just switch. Even as a portable, it's nice if it weren't for that daft cable!!

(i am not a fan of the mega money after market cables though)

I agree. Detachable cables make sense. Catch them and they pull out and you can change them for any length that you like. I use very short leads for portable and long ones for tv/radio. Medium for sitting with my amps. A very very long run so I can be in my kitchen while listening to something in the front room, if I don't want to use the Bluetooth Sony.
So for me, 4 cables per headphone!!! Ideal.

Believe me, I use anything. I've even used a patch lead that was meant to link a dap to an amp. Doesn't bother me. I think the last one I got was £6.
Cables don't worry me at all because I've never heard a difference.
Then again, following the he350, I might be deaf it seems.

DACS are even more similar!!!
I'm getting a little concerned about my hearing because I don't feel that I'm getting the same as what Frans is describing. I might get my hearing checked I think.
I've always been careful in live stuff and worn acoustic plugs that let all the frequencies in but attenuate them, but that's not possible in recording work. Might be catching up with me with age; I'm not so sure now.
Never worried about headphone cables. One expensive mistake made me stop instantly. Same might be for dacs.

Yes, absolutely...I was comparing the relative change when the filter was added to the chain. The D2000 filter is worth every penny in my opinion :-) I think with the HE400i, the lack of sub-bass in the stock phones makes the effect of the filter very obvious, especially at low volume levels.

Ian just a thought.... if you have a desktop Kameleon? i would be happy to send you my d2000 module for you to try. would be nice to know how you think it compares to a th900. cheers

OK Simon. I don't use a filter with the TH900 and tbh, the d2000 isn't really that far removed in terms of sound. The th900 has a sharper sounding top end so the d2000 is slightly 'easier'. I'm very fond of my d2000. Mine has been shined up so the cups are glossy like the th900 has well.
I don't think it would be a good idea to send anything through the post through Christmas though. It might get lost amongst the jumble in the post, so maybe let the holiday go first? I actually didn't realise that Frans had developed a filter for the d2000.
I tend to stick with the hd650 and occasionally use the dt990 or 770 filters.
