I have made several C-Moy amps, I have modded a pair of iGrado's (to remove the hideously uncomfortable headband!) Here is a pic of the modded iGrado's. The headband was plundered from a cheap pair of terribly bad Sony phoned I bought from Tesco. That's it really. I had intended to try some larger ear pads to see if getting a smidgen of distance between the drivers and the ears would give a little more air to the sound. However, as the original idea was for them to sit on the ear I never quite got around to trying that. I understand that they use the same drivers as the SR60s The drivers are attached with electricians tape. Simples. I also forgot to say that I have a Banzai Blue Jelly. well it is in bits really as the crappy 3.5mm sockets have broken. When working it is not a bad C-Moy clone. Rob.

They are sr60 drivers but not in the same enclosure. What surprised me about them was how 'warm' they sound in comparison to the SR60. Just shows what an enclosure does for a headphone. I am surprised that no one has come up with a different solution for those drivers. Given the pain that Grados can cause on the ears phyiscally, it would have made sense to put them in something else that goes around your ears and maybe warm up the sound at the same time.. There's me thinking that you'd put them inside some different cups!!

Well I had intended to do something like that.......but... In fact they are very comfortable and sound good enough to stop me from fiddling!

Hi Folks, I'm a low volume poster/high volume lurker but very interested in mods and DIY. So far I've built 2 Pandas, a CHAmp, a DT1350 filter/amplifier, a T50RP filter and modified T50RPs, an XCAN V2, an X10-D and in the process of modding a Behringer DEQ2496 (just for giggles). Looking forward to learning/spending more here! Dicky

Hi Dicky. Nice to see you posting!! I must say, I am very pleased with guys coming in so soon. Only been open a day and a half and already, things are hotting up which is great. This works in a slightly different way in that all the info is tucked away in another place so it stays as a reference while we mess this area up!! How did you find us? Keep posting!!

Hi Ian, I've been in contact with Frans via email regarding T50/DT1350 filters and he sent me a link to the website which I've been reading for a few days - particularly the papers on impedance etc. Anyhoo, I just popped in to have a look around and noticed there was a forum - so here I am. Dicky

Anyone asked Mick (Heliharris) to join? Ah yes, Heliharris - he was the bloke who did the metal rings on the HD681's that I won. Had forgotten about him.

Mick had a new GS1000 which he straight away offered to send to me so that I could hear it. I never got over it!!! Such a trusting and generous guy. I'm very fond of Mick.

I got the metal rings off Mick and love the signature of the 681's with velour pads, leather headband, filter and a few other tweaks. Mick wouldn't even take postage for the rings, really hope he joins.
