Actually, seeing that graph is quite reassuring Frans. Many thanks. I felt straight away coming from the Chinese pads that the treble 'seemed' better, but in fact, the other end has been adjusted. It is as you say, more like my HD600 now.
I just hope the pads hold up for a while. They're too expensive.

Strange. It went back to $398.73. I was going to try and get an import service for five of them from you until I checked the price!! That was a really good price so you got yourself a bargain.

Yes. Not bad. 5 would come out at £1250 roughly so not shabby at all when you think how much the high end stuff goes out at. I'm thinking of students who want a music listening headphone rather than monitors, so they can see the benefits of a good mix on a good standard home headphone as used by many audiophiles.
Most are using closed DT150 or K550 so hearing their stuff on a 'forgiving' home headphone might open their ears to the benefits of open headphones with regard to image placement and space. The Senns are a good middle of the road/ quality headphone to appreciate the results of their work.

I noticed the price fluctuation as well, I looked at all the markets at Amazon at that time and noticed that all the sellers on Amazon had reduced prices. Then within a short time, all the prices went back up, have seen this before, and this time I jumped on it. I was going to order new pads anyways, and wondered about getting speaker modules replaced, but this will give me another pair for the long run. If they come out with a new model in this price range, that is markedly better, I still won't feel bad as I think these are very good value.

I have a sneaky suspicion there's an HD 750 on the not too distant horizon. The chassis of the HD 700 but with a darker, mellowed signature.
Remember, you heard it here first.

Oh, I thought you already had an hd650! I haven't been able to move all afternoon because of the Kameleon. It's exceeded my expectations actually in terms of lack of noise and just sheer musical enjoyment. You are completely unaware of the filter module being in place since there is no added noise coming through whatsoever.
The 650 just opens up and seems so natural sounding.

a mate at work has expressed an interest in my lcd2 and has offered iro £600.(more with filter) this got me thinking of doing a comparison with the 650. i estimate a good used 650 and a new filter would set me back just over £350. that would leave some in the pot for other things. it is tempting.

But you are happy with the LCD2 aren't you Simon? I don't know their sound but from what I hear, they're very good.
I'm going to get a Kameleon I think Simon. The difference is profound although, the amount of manipulation isn't too great. The bass depth is just awsome and the headphone is more natural than it was. In fact, it kind of disappears, although it took me a while to get over the amazing sub-bass.
One album from Thomas Dolby has a serious mixing fault on it. There is a if lack of bass and everything becomes mid centric on one track that I was listening to. I immediately felt that something was wrong until the next track and the low bass came slamming in again. So if bass isn't there, the Senn no longer puts a warm bloom on it
Normally, for me, it takes a little while with the headphone on for my ears to adjustable, but with the Kameleon, I immediately felt that it was tonally spot on. It was instant and then after that, I was hearing everything in a different light. (Spotting mixing errors)
It's a fabulous combo and one that Senn should have been selling in the first place!!!
Imo, Frans has absolutely nailed it. He deserves an award!!!!!!!

These are used and when you add the postage they are very close to the Amazon offering! Syd

Personally I would only trade in the LCD-2 + filter in for the HD650 when you got tired of the physical weight of the LCD-2 or if you need to free some cash and don't want to compromise on audio quality.
The filtered LCD2 is as close to flat and realism as the HD650 is.
The HD650 is very comfortable, the LCD2 as well but differently.
