It is much simpler with JRiver.
Download the JRiver trial.
Go to Tools - DSP Studio - Manage Plugins - Add Third Party
Select Reference 3 x86 (32 bit)
Select HD 650's profile and select Flat.

Hi Simon. I posted in another thread asking if you're using Foobar on Windows. You are, I know that. For the record, although I use JRiver I would probably still be using Foobar if I was still on Windows but I switched to Mac years ago.
Anyway, Akshey has it right in his instructions above. However it's possible you don't already have a 'VST Plugins' folder (my memory on that is hazy but it's possible that's not standard). If not you'll need to go into the Components folder of your Foobar installation and create a 'VST Plugins' folder. Then copy the VST plugin into that folder. Then you need to restart Foobar and go into its preferences and navigate to the plugins folder. Once there you ned to select Sonarworks. That should be it, job done. If not I'll try to figure it out better. Alternatively do as Akshey says and try out the demo of JRiver.
For reference - most people on Mac's who use JRiver only do so because it's as close to Foobar as it's possible to get on a Mac. Neither is better than the other but on a Windows machine I'd definitely be using Foobar. It's free and if there's a difference in sound quality I'd be willing to bet that us oldies aren't going to hear it.
Good luck.

Thanks techboy. I don't have an HD650 myself but quite fancied trying the K712 Pro profile in SW3. I hadn't messed around with plug-ins before and was finding things a bit hard to fathom so this helped a lot! I've added a couple of comments to the instructions just in case they help Simon (Oldson): Download the JRiver trial. Go to Tools - DSP Studio - Manage Plugins - Add Third Party I couldn't get into DSP studio using the drop down list under the 'tools' option top left, but managed to do so by clicking on the icon with a 3 bar graphic equaliser further to the rightSelect Reference 3 x86 (32 bit) found under c:/program files (x86)/VSTPluginsEnable the plug in by clicking the checkbox beside 'Refererence 3_x86' on the left side of DSP StudioSelect HD 650's profile and select Flat. Edit: sorry Gordon nipped away for a bit whilst typing this so only just saw your post. Apologies if you've already covered this. The VST plugins folder I navigated to looks like it was created by SW3 as it's outwith the Jriver folder. There is also a 64 bit version but I'm sure I read somewhere that with Jriver it's not supported so you nedd to use the x86 version.

One question - why are you all recommending the 32-bit version? Also, lose the hat. It doesn't suit you. You have been warned!

Quick question if I may.
I see there is a check box within DSP studio called 'headphones'. Checking it brings up an option to set crossfeed.
I assume because I am using the SW3 headphone plug in I should leave this disabled?
Ta.

I did try both but only the 32-bit version worked. Also recall reading somewhere that Jriver doesn't currently support the 64-bit version, which isn't unsual with Windows tbh. I'm quite attached to the hat now. It's cold here and it keeps my head warm (#2 on top doesn't insulate too well)

I always use Crossfeed but haven't since buying Sonarworks. Not because I won't in future but because I'm still getting used to the bass. Headphones without crossfeed are pointless IMO.

I'm not used to being spoiled with all these options on Tidal. So just to clarify with Sonarworks do you leave 'headphones' unchecked at present Gordon along with crossfeed?
Not totally sold on the K712 profile at present as it sucks some of the lushness from female vocals but do quite like the difference in the DT990. Flatter sounds better.
Low end seems improved on both for sure.

I leave it off right now but I'll switch it in eventually. I don't really like the headphone sound. I prefer the band in front of me.
