I have a Patriot 128gb card and never had any issues playing up to 24/192 in my X3 (although I mostly never bother keeping the files at that resolution). Class 10/uhs-1 should be way more than fast enough for those type of files. Formatting the card in the Fiio is the best advice. One of the firmware updates also added NTFS (maybe exfat too) support but I've never tried that. Besides you need to use fat32 to do any firmware updates. I currently have just under 5000 tracks on my 128gb file and a database update is still only a couple minutes. I keep the tracks as a nice mix of flac and aac - I figure if a song has a DR rating of less than 10 is really doesn't need to be lossless.

OK. So a few posts back you mentioned you had an A900, any speculation on how they'd compare with the msr? They can both be had for roughly the same price here in Canada - provided you can still find a pair, being replaced and all (the 990z are a fair bit more expensive). Looks to me that the MSR would be the more comfy of the two - Seems my head/ears aren't shaped to best handle round earcups (and those "wings" still remind me too much of electro-shock paddles). Most of my gear is on the warmer side so I think the MSR should be happy. I'd like a bit more in the way of bass extension/quantity (this is where the hp150s were solid), but I'd much rather err on the side of not enough than too much

Going back to my regulars, I feel that these aren't for me. While they have a really clear presentation, they're just producing notes and not music. In particular, the bass just isn't prominent enough for me. For me, there's a harsh tinge in the treble which I also find difficult and everything seems too comtrolled and restrained. Not to my taste at all in spite of trying very hard today!! Nothing is missing in the sound and you can hear into mixes, but ultimately, the lack of bass makes them uninvolving for me and it's a relief to go back to something more 'normal' for me. I'm going to hang on to them for a little while. Perhaps I haven't given them enough time, but normally, I get a pretty good 'feel' for headphones pretty fast and can adapt to most. I don't think I can adapt to these. Harsher than the AKG K551 and K553 for me. Shame, because they have a terrific clarity and are nicely made. I can't adjust to the timbre though. Would it just be a matter of more power? I remember reading somewhere that AT headphones can be picky regarding amps

From what I gather the push/pull thing is like the iem equivalent of a dipole speaker. Similar to what AT is doing with the ckr9/10. Supposedly has much lower distortion

Just wanted to chime in to say that I have a pair of Deltas - 1st. gen hybrid. I agree that Trinity has a quality product here. Having the ability to change filters is a bonus. Typically I use a gold filter (the colours are different for the various models) on mine for the "flattest" response, but if I want to kill off some grey matter with some metal, then I'll just switch to the gunmetal (more v-shaped) for s'more bass. I was going to get the PM4, but had to bail since I needed a new laptop. Hopefully in the future I can check out some of the other models

Looking forward to your thoughts. I've been looking at these since their release - (1 month after I bought my hp150 ). Now that the 150s are no more (at least temporarily), they're back on my radar. along with the a990z/a900x

Isn't there even some issue with that Massdrop offering? I vaguely remember a lot of finger pointing and foaming at the mouths in one of the thread I quickly browsed (kind of a toxic atmosphere, so I didn't bother sticking round long)

I do realise that, but whatever I get will still sound better than they do now I'm not adverse to doing some tweaking, after all they are just paperweights atm. Could be a decent little project, even though I know nothing about tuning headphones - how hard can it be I did get another contact tip for Soundmagic so if this one doesn't pan out, then its experimenting time, I guess

Since I haven't gotten any reply from Soundmagic or their distributor I'm thinking I might have to go with 3rd party drivers if I want to resurrect them. Any suggestions for a decent source or a particular driver to look at. A fellow over on Head-fi suggested using Senn. Momentum drivers (dirt cheap ~$10 each), and I've seen quite a few models on Aliexpress (no idea about the quality). Looks like I might be stuck having to adapt 50mm drivers since I haven't found any 53mm

Admittedly, I have very little experience with closed phones (the hp150 were my first and so far only), so I'm not too sure what the $$/perforamce progression is on them. Is it a huge jump going from the Superlux to say DT770 (or equivalent). I suppose what I'm getting at is are the hd662 evo just good for the money, or plain old good?

A quick general question for folks that have theseā¦
Since I'm not getting any response back about replacement drivers for my HP150s, I'm looking at a pair of these. What I'm wondering though is if it would be better to put the money into a higher $$ bracket, say AKG 545, A-T msr7, etc. I really don't want to feel short-changed, and unfortunately I'm also prone to mild buyers remorse - that and the fact that guaranteed once I buy something, another option will pop up within days

Works out to round $50 USD. The Canadian market is pretty sucky when it comes to pricing - for example a pair of Fidelio x2 were selling on Amazon.ca for $500 CAD at one time. A replacement pair of HP150s would cost $150 (coincidence??) so the 662evo are still quite a deal
