Hi Chris, dont take my post too seriously just a bit of banter really, the Atom brewery seems to only sell to the trade although since they do tours for the public might have a sales facility at the brewery.
Neave is doing fine, although she does have some problems to contend with she is a cheery nine year old, I do appreciate your asking after her. Regards, Alan

Arrived today :-) Derek Have run out !! Hi Derek, what's your opinion on the Guinness with the surger unit - as good as draught? I have only had one in a local restaurant and I was not too impressed (could have been the way they served it?) This is one for Alan to try - my tipple for tomoro nite Finest Theakton Masham Ale with a touch of Speyside Malt Whiskey (6.5%)

I have always found 'surger' Guninness to be reliable. I too have witnessed it being served poorly in a bar; the can wasn't cold enough.

I have always preferred Guinness extra stout in the bottle to the draught surger in the can. More body and robust flavor. The surger isn't bad, but it doesn't do anything special to me.

If anyone has the chance (and is near Buxton, or derbyshire) try any stout from the Buxton brewery. Their basic Rednik and Extra stout's are amazing, but their imperial stuff (living end, rainshadow) are out of this world.
For those with a waitrose or booths (lucky barstools) nearby the Fullers london porter is excellent (easily twice as nice as guinness IMO). Booths have an excellent range, so I'm told, not been in since I was up north on holiday about a year ago.
Report back with findings chaps, I'd really like to hear from any craft drinkers (as much as I hate the term) if there's any here.
There does seem to be a massive trend between speciality beer & coffee -hope it extends to audio too!

I may be wrong but has Guinness stepped the flavour down over the years to appeal to younger drinkers maybe? The surger has a good texture. So smooth and slips down easily but agree it does not have much bite. But on balance it's still a good drink. Do you remember when the bottled Guinness was bottle conditioned (is that the term?)? Had to be poured carefully to avoid clouding the glassful with the yeast sediment. Not that I minded if it did... worked many years, on and off, behind bars perfecting that pouring technique. Wish they still made it.

If you go to Greece Joe - you have to check out Corfu Brewery, especially the Ionian Epos @7.5% (lovely) sank a few of them whilst on holiday in Zante early July this year. www.corfubeer.com/Beers/index.php
