How weird is that? It works for a while and then plays up? If it was configured incorrectly, it wouldn't work in the first place. Is it only happening with certain types of file? it is odd. my music library is nearly all flac cd rips apart from 1 album, which is a 24/192 download. i tend to listen to the whole library on random playback. using aisodsd all the standard rips are upscaled to dsd512. the 24/192 files do not upscale. this can work for hours with no issues , switching between upscale and none upscale. so the ifi Led switches from magenta to green and back. then every so often the Led will stay magenta when it switches to a none upscaled 24/192 file. foobar then throws up the unsupported file error message. i have also noticed it can happen when an upscaled file is playing when i quit foobar. the Led stays magenta with nothing playing. i was never totally convinced that the aisodsd plugin installed correctly. i did think maybe my kaspersky security program may have affected it in some way. hopefully Javier can shed some light on the problem tomorrow.

If the playlist contains different sample rate files (44.1K and 192K) and there are many changes back and forth it can indeed cause the driver to freeze. I also occasionally have had the blue/purple LED staying on problem but not often enough to bother me.

not sure if my micro might be goosed!
tonight everything sounds distorted, mainly in the bass lines. using a cd from pc sounds the same. when using my separate cd player everything is fine, so i know its either pc or micro. any ideas?
can the micro play-up if low on charge? although i dont have a red Led.

it may actually be a pc/windows problem. power went off earlier while windows was trying to update. now windows update does not seem to work. it tries to download but stays at 0%. i have a horrible feeling tomorrow i will be doing a windows install . which i hate doing with a passion.

not convinced the problem is pc related. sound is distorted whichever usb outlet i use.
i feel a new dac coming . wont be a portable one this time. at least that will rule out charging problems.

A Fiio x3 or x5 can double up as a player and as a dac. Best of both worlds and they drag you away from the computer since your music goes onto cards. Also, a good line out for serious amps.

Any chance you could test the iFi on a different PC? Or on different player than Foobar?

Or if you don't have another PC to try an Android phone via a USB OTG cable might be an option (assuming its a newish phone that supports USB audio).

morning guys feeling rough this morning so could do without this playing up.
i have done what you suggested. installed latest driver on the wife's laptop. it did not recognise the device the first time, and i did think there was an instance where i suspected the blue ifi usb connection into the device. (as Ian did mention, earlier) anyway 2nd install worked ok. good news for my pc is that it sounds awful on the laptop too.
i think firstly i need to try a new lead, just to rule it out. off to maplin, i guess.
will post back later, thanks for the help in the meantime.
