You're most welcome Mr Trev!! Whenever anyone mentions Canada, I think of Electric Avenues and that little amp made out there ... The little Pocket Amp.
I still have a great deal of affection for it after quite a few years as well. Cheap as chips and works quite nicely.

I have seen the name 'Mr Trev' pop-up in the FiiO X3 theme thread on HF. Welkom to this forum. I have knocked off a few themes. Nothing close to some of the ones for the X5. You should check out some of the work Relic has done, if you haven't already. Makes me want to get a X5 just for the themes

The only Electric Avenue I know of is in Calgary, and my memories of it are clouded by an alcohol induced haze

The amp is a little cheapy .... electric-avenues.comGary, who makes them is a Portapro fan and uses it himself with them!! He designed it as a college project initially and then slightly refined it as a mk 2. Very nice chap. With regards to 'themes' for the X3, both Frans and myself use a black and red coloured theme on ours. For me, it's one of the best for clarity of text because it uses a large font and actually makes it a bit easier to read in sunlight. I wish they were available for my X1 and X5 as well.

Hello all I followed several posts from rg and headfi and other places, garnering info on some cans and the quest finally led me here (due to solderdude's knowledge). Let's see what comes up next.

Hello y'all. My name is Larry and I've been lurking for a looong time even though I signed up about halfway through my lurking period. Found this site from RG and remember Frans' posts about modding a headphone amp. Sadly I can't recall the name, wait Bravo it was! Anyway I happily frankenmodded it along with him then lost interest in it. I think maybe Frans might have also, who knows. So I saw the Garage amps being talked about on this site and gave the Ember a try. I really like it and even more so now that I finally was able to purchase the filter for my Senn 650. I would have built the early Euro version but never really saw a U.S. distributor to avoid figuring out customs ect... Looking around the site I just recently saw the Superlux threads. I think I'll buy a pair and mod them also. I have an old pair of Sony mdr6 phones for when I do indoor workouts on the spin cycle. The replacement pads are about the same price as the Superlux so why not ha!
Anyhoo hope everyone on this site has an enjoyable time this holiday season. Oh and happy belated birthday to Frans.

Welcome Larry. Great to see a new poster on here too.
I use the Polaris which I like enormously, as well as an Ember. I well remember the Bravo thread on RG. Frans pointed out the awful crosstalk on them and told us how to spot it. After that I went right off it!!!
Superlux is a great buy. Modded, they are absolutely fantastic sounding and are a Best Buy for sure.

Welcome to the club Larry. All the best people are here. And me. Truthfully though, there's a level of approachable expertise on this forum that you don't find in other places.
I hope the holiday season brings you everything you want.

Thanks folks for the welcome. I'll try to pipe in from time to time. Hope you all get all the toys and love you can handle.
BTW if anyone feels lonely or bluesy my recommendation would be to do some volunteer work. It always brings holiday cheer and certainly is appreciated. I'll be delivering a few meals this weekend. Love seeing the smiles at the door!

Hello everyone. Long time lurker here. I stumbled upon this site last year and have been pleasantly surprised with the high quality of information posted here, as well as the overall attitude. Most other audio/headphone related forums (and websites) either contain a lot of misinformation, are unfriendly or just exhibit fanboy/girl behavior...
Keep up the good work!
About myself: I have been in this hobby for over ten years after accidentally discovering some good headphones. Not exactly an audiophile, more of a personal audio "enthusiast".

Hi fanda,
Welcome to this forum. There aren many 'audiophiles' nor audiophools here. Most of them care more about music than gear. Most of us believe we do not have to buy the expensive stuff in order to get an acceptable amount of 'fidelity'.
Enthusiasts describes it best indeed.

Thanks. You are right - Good gear helps considerably, but it is ultimately about the enjoyment of music.
