Okay, maybe a bit square for a Hobbit hole, but cozy, just the same. Inside, things are warm and festive. Merry Yule, y'all! Joe

I don't even own a Horizon, but I keep poking my head out from the swamp to read this thread. You guys are very entertaining! No such love in the seemingly abandoned and forlorn Starlight thread.
Carry on!

Very nice, Ian. That's a very gentle snowfall. We just got done with 6"-10" accumulation and 30-50mph winds. The work commute was horrible for three days before the plows finally got to us. I much prefer your snowstorm.
Nice music, too. Sets a very nice tone.

Familiar sight on the Minnesota/Manitoba border, also. Great picture!

I'm fairly certain I heard and briefly saw a mountain lion in our yard last spring. While they don't necessarily live in this area, they occasionally wander through. Bobcats, however, are permanent residents.
I try to keep my wits about me when in the woods.

My daughter Sarah came downstairs from her room last night with a very concerned look on her face. She told me there were loud noises coming from out in the yard that sounded like something was being torn limb-from-limb. I went out and investigated. The big dogs were barking very fiercely at something in the dark. The returning scream told me there was a bobcat out there who took issue to our Great Pyrenees guarding the rest of the critters. The big cat decided to go off and search for an easier meal.
Not quite the same night sounds we used to get when we lived in town.
Good dogs.

We'll done, Ian! Ultralight gear makes it more challenging and exciting. People around here are waiting for the ice to get thick enough to go ice fishing. Weather has been mild, so the ice is still thin.

They're black with black outer rings and blue inner rings. The upper perimeter around the ring says "65th Anniversary Edition". Hard to miss.

Pretty sure they're referring to the classic 702. The Annies/7XX/712 tend to sound a bit more balanced with the raised bass balancing out the treble. The piercing highs can be tamed a bit by adding toilet paper or felt in front of the drivers. The pads are stupidly easy to remove and reinstall.

Thanks for the report, Ian. Sounds like we have similar opinions on the K712/7XX sound. They seem to only need very small degrees of corrections. I'm satisfied with the treble with a single layer of craft felt over the stock foam ring, the mids are just fine as is, and the subbass, while weak, is definitely there. There's a lot to like.

Do give us a report on the Kameleonized K712 when you get the filter, Ian. Enquiring minds want to know!

This discussion about subbass is very relevant. My own experiences have shown that adding a properly tuned subwoofer to any decent speaker system can make the whole system really shine. Even with my limited experience in decent headphones, I can really tell the difference in the fullness of the sound between my SR80, which is almost completely devoid of any semblance of subbass, and my K7XX, which has considerably more. If Sennheiser adds more onto the bottom end, they could have a real winner.

I would love to hear a K712/K7XX on Kameleon. Someday, perhaps.
