The K7XX is very similar to the 712, from what I've read. I pretty much removed the signature AKG lump by removing the stock foam filters and replacing it with two layers of cheap craft foam and one play of toilet tissue. Took a little air away, but sounds real smooth.

Welcome aboard, Chris! It's a good crew on this site. Real friendly! I think you'll like the Horizon. Frans and Jeremy make good stuff.

What am I up to? Goodness! Where do I start?
I have hay that needs to be delivered, a hayfield that needs to be reconditioned, ditches to mow, a firebreak between us and the swamp that needs mowing, firewood to be cut, and my factory is working overtime! This leaves precious little time for walking the trails, picking wild plums, and evening campfires.
For inside projects, I need to replace a noisy blower in our LP parlour stove which sits right beside my listening chair, so I can hear music, instead of the constant rattles of a loose, out of balance squirrel cage fan. I also have plans for either making or buying wall hangers for my guitars, so I can make my little cove in the end of the living room perfect.
But next Saturday, which is Labor Day weekend, we take a break from all this. Earlier this Summer, we catered to a nearby family reunion. Fed about 40 people. We've decided to use the money from that to drive 100 miles one way for a day trip to Grand Forks, North Dakota (the nearest small city) to treat ourselves to sushi!
All in all, life is good! A bit busy, but good.

I'm getting real tempted to buy a set of these for something cheap to throw into the laptop bag. I'm also thinking of buying those cheap, crappy Parts Express headphones so I can convert the KSC75 to a headband phone, seeing as I generally despise ear clips.

I think you're on to something, Ian. Perhaps many of us are pretty satisfied with our current set-up, so there's not a whole lot to add on many of the topics. I know I'm mostly done gear shopping (with the possible exception of a Kameleon in the future!) so I often feel I don't have much to add to many of the gear topics. I'm also not about to attempt teaching the rest of you all my "superior" audio secrets, as that would be a complete farce.
There are plenty of other armchair experts out there.

This was on the news? Are you sure it wasn't on the Onion? 😆

GAH! That was horrid! I think an elementary School band can do much better.

My dream is retire to the coast of California. Someplace where I would need binoculars to see my neighbors house, and just barely at that. Way back when I lived in the Bay area, my grandparents had a cabin in Grass Valley. We loved going there. We moved out of California in '71 and haven't been back since. I quite imagine I wouldn't recognize anything if I were to visit.

Yes, they're appearing now. Beautiful too. What a lovely place. It must be my age, but I have become way more reclusive and definitely prefer being cut off from towns and people. Maybe because both in performing and teaching, you're basically putting on an act for everyone else to enjoy or hate...... Not because you feel the way that you portray. Now, I do as I like and just love it, but would really enjoy living in a place like that. I know what you mean. My wife and I have spent most of our lives entertaining people in various ways. We're finding ourselves to be more reclusive with age. We spent the first 20 years of our married lives living in town. Now I'm happy surrounding myself with trees and critters instead of people.

Great pictures, you have a really nice lifestyle! I'll bet your summer isn't as short as ours! You are a bit further north than I, to be sure. At least you don't get the continental cold in the winter. It feels like flippin' Siberia at times!

Well, that's odd... It looks fine on my laptop, but not on my phone. I'll try to fix it after work.
