If you send it to AMR and they need to replace it maybe you could ask them to out in the new LE version with upgraded components. Most likely the manufacturing cost is the same though they could charge extra....

Sent from my GT-I9505 using proboards that sounds like good advice. its a pity, for me, that the LE was not available when mine went pear shaped. but if you go for this ,Syd, you will need some black and orange paint.

I got a reply this morning (12.50am, so I guess not from UK) "We still offer support but this is £157.70 for a brand new PCB and comes with 1x year warranty." No option but to accept, it is so versatile, and I shall certainly try for the upgrade board! I doubt I'll be successful as they probably are using up their original boards first. Syd

wow, i wonder why there is such a price hike ! still much better than buying a new unit i guess and you still get the warranty. hopefully they turn it around quickly.

I've emailed the question, so I'll sit back and wait now, maybe if it is the latest board it explains the price. Hopefully....

It just occured to me... does the bad channel problem happen when used as an amp or as a DAC (line out)?

It just occured to me... does the bad channel problem happen when used as an amp or as a DAC (line out)? Sent from my GT-I9505 using proboards It's the DAC side Javier, the amp side is fine. I described the situation to iFi and they agree. It's all three input types, optical, co-axial and USB affected. I took it out of the case and it's not exactly awe inspiring solder work inside! It's ironic as I have not really had a steady use for it until just at the point it failed. I was pairing it with the Kameleon 1 that you made and it was going to be the setup for night-time TV up in my 'study'. The Grand-children use the TV for the XBox and kept pulling the headphone plug out to use the TV sound. The TV is fairly tight to the wall and fiddling the plug back in was a pain. Strange that TVs don't have the option to pass on a signal to the speakers and headphone. This setup was solving it and sounding great for a couple of nights, then I thought I had gone deaf in one ear Funny thing was I tried the 'phones and optical cable on my MF XDAC setup and it was off on it too. Pure coincidence, I'd replaced the optical input in the XDAC and had broken the phono output lead, pure chance that it was the same channel. Led to a bit of head scratching for a minute or two! Syd

Just got an email from iFi. They say that has been the price and it will be the same as my board.
Seems to be iFi handling it, redirected from the other site I guess.

Seems a funny starting price, maybe part of the psychology I'm not sure I would buy another iFi product, suspect reliability and only a new board as a repair option. So after a year if anything goes wrong £158 more needed to get back into operation. A pity, when working it's a great device. Syd

Mine has been working fine so far but I used it as a desktop DAC and never gets carried around. The fact the guy us offering cash on collect could be some guarantee?

Mine has been working fine so far but I used it as a desktop DAC and never gets carried around. The fact the guy us offering cash on collect could be some guarantee? Could be another part of the scam? What happens if you do ask to visit him? Could of course be perfectly OK. My iFi was used on my desktop too, I had just moved it over to my late-night TV watching chair, second night the channel went out. I only know of 4 people with this model of iFi, lost touch with one, two out of the remaining three died, not good. I'm so used to electronic equipment just working for years, including my collection of older stuff which only gets dusted off for old time's sake. A while back I got my Pioneer A400 out of storage and it worked first time. Just checked, it's around 27 years old! Syd

i must admit if mine packs up again i would not buy another idsd micro. i use mine solely as a desktop dac so would probably go for an idac2 or similar product from other manufacturer. as i am pretty much "dac deaf" i could not justify another £500 for a new idsd micro.
