I think so Simon. Wrapping isn't going to change the sound, I'm certain. Solder it on if you want!!! How long is the run?

Good prices from QED. I have used their interconnects and they're very well made.
That's a nicely written article Chris.

Future shop is where I priced the cable mate. £10/m Un terminated. Have read the white papers on Frans' post. I am not convinced I will hear a difference but the white paper implies there could be for none esl speakers.

Totally agree Ian, you always get good value for money with QED cables and like you say they are very well made. I purely use QED cables at the moment - Qunex Silver Spiral interconnects & Genesis Silver Spiral speaker cables. The plugs they use are also very well made and have a good tight grip. If I ever get my ESL's working then I will be making some custom made speaker cables from coax as suggested in the cable article.

I have just recently received a very nice cable for my HE-560 from Forza Audioworks (Claire HPC Mk II). Not exactly cheap but not crazy money either. Matt is a top bloke to deal with too.
I'm not a bigger believes in the magical properties of cables so my reasons for buying were not so to improve SQ rather that I dislike the stock cable with a passion and that actually stops me from using the headphone. It's far too long, very stiff and just becomes a distraction at times. I wanted something that addressed these issues but also looked fairly premium (I'm a sucker for good looking gear I admit).
Compared with the stock cable the new one is a thing of beauty. Lovely to look at (esp. then the light catches it and the copper wires shine through the clear sleeving), very supple, perfect length for me (1.5m) and well made. Although still fairly light in the hand it has noticeably more heft and is a bit thicker than Forza's more budget friendly Color Series cables and in terms of materials it's a clear step up. This thing is just a pleasure to use and doesn't get in the way which if I'm honest is exactly what I want in a cable....so for me worth every penny.
Do I think the sound quality has improved? Absolutely. Do I think it is because the cable is mechanically or sonically better than the stock one? Hmm, I'm really not sure about that. I suspect as much as anything the improvements I hear may be purely psychological in nature because if a cable isn't annoying me then I feel happier and ergo my music sounds better.
