not sure if i need the beyer headband that you and Ian mention as they are much improved with the adjustment i made yesterday. i made the mistake of thinking they would have the best seal with the cups fully retracted. just for reference (at the moment) which model of beyer's is the headband from?

I don't think Frans has designed a card for a D600. just as well mate as i am gonna tighten my belt for a couple of months now. may just get the headband just to see if it improves things further.

The padding comes from the Beyer 990, 880 or 770, Simon. Beyer supply them as spares. They fix via poppers. I also use them with Grado headphones. Not expensive. At least I don't think so.

Thanks Ian not even sure if i need one but may get it just in case it improves them further. i am on my second long listening session via the X1 and what a cracking combo for the price i paid. have not yet tried eq to lower the bass, but read on headfi somewhere that a cable replacement would cure it!!!!!!! i only wish they could back it up with facts. i just do not believe it makes the slightest difference. i did not respond to the post as i am not technical enough to back up what i believe to be true. your advice on the X1 and d600 has served me very well, so thanks for that!

The cable won't take that bass response down, Simon. They're puffing hot wind. Don't waste your money.
Try taking the volume down. I find that there is a focus point where they give a pretty good sound and it's easy to go to far up in volume since they are quite mellow. Then the bass comes out like dynamite. Going down lessens it due to the Flescher effect. (Whatever it's called) I always look for an ideal focus point for headphones. They all seem to snap in at different levels.
Once you acclimatise to their sound, you'll find that they're more capable thn you first thought. That's what I found. At first, I felt that they were big and blubbery until I hit good recordings and turned down. Now I find them full and pretty extended actually.
You are right, for that kind of money, you are getting a terrific sound. I love it!!

That's it. They are very useful for padding many headphones, Simon. They're quite versatile. They improve the feel of my Grados a lot. I also use them on my Senn HD650 and 600. Covers that awful chipping of the paint and feels nicer. They stretch and fit many headphones.

If they're sealing on your head, Simon, they're probably fine. Lifting them just makes them feel a bit more secure for me when I'm moving around.

I need to order stuff from Thomann. Shipping = E 8,- (below E 100). I only need to order 2 sets of SRH940 pads so won't make the E 100,- for free shipping.
If needed I can order headband along.
I can send them along in a regular envelope and may be cheaper this way then when ordering alone. Pads can be sent in regular envelopes as well.

No not nearly but you can 'hitch along' on my shipping costs that I have to make anyway. Shipping the padded band in an envelope only costs around 2E.
