Great work Frans. Quite some transformation!
Should be plenty of cheap cable options on ebay. Have in the past tried a Meze 99 Classic cable with my AH-D7200 (same connectors as the D600 / D7100) so that'll work too.

It’s a grey, cloth covered one. Forza?

That's the one Ian. It's a Forza Color Series cable for newer Hifiman headphones so wouldn't work with the Denon (Hifiman has 2.5mm L/R jacks above the y-split whereas Denon use 3.5mm jacks).

Indeed. Nothing is ever simple.
If only headphone makers could agree on an industry standard it would make life so much simpler!! And cheaper.

It would for sure. Hadn’t realised that the Hifimans used the smaller plugs. Oh well, I’ll have a dig and see if I can find something.

Would this be an upgrade in sound quality over a fully modified Superlux HD662-EVO? I take it it would be an upgrade in chassis build and durability ? Prices used seem reasonable. Frans, how hard is it to fix the LR driver imbalance? Did you simply tape the wires down so they do not obstruct the hole indicated in your mod guide? Thanks

I still own the HD662EVO and not the D600 !
The channel imbalance was not easy to fix unless you can measure it. Turned out some small leakage is essential. Too much and bass suffers, too little and bass suffers in the other direction. Had to take it apart, make changes and fully assemble and test quite q few times.
I not too fond of the biodynamic drivers. I find the treble quality to not be as good as 'plastic' drivers. The same was true for this one. While tonally a lot more balanced the treble 'issue' became more obvious. The same happens when EQ-ing Nighthawk etc. When the overblown bass does overpower the treble it isn't as obvious.
